To put it simply, we (the writers) love Japanese photobloggers. One of them is a man nicknamed JJ (jumpedforjoy) of Pulpo.org. We love his black and white photos and the fact that he is still using film. You can found photos on his photoblog taken by great cameras such as Hasselblad 500 C/M and Leica M2. Now, the very first entry on his photoblog that we can dig was titled “Snow” and dated back to January 4, 2005. Well, actually his first photo was earlier than that. According to his email, his first photo ever published (the one shown above) was taken approximately 2 years ago. But the real first photo was taken when he was only 8 years old! (What were you doing when you’re 8?) So now we know, thanks to First Photo! :)

Hi Budi

GREAT! This theme is very interesting.
My first published picture is not this…
http://pulpo.org/weblog/index.php?showimage=28
but this (mail attachment)
I have had some websites 2 years ago. But photoblog was far easier and
more exciting for me, so they were abolish or merge to Pulpo;)

My first photo that solitary crow on the tree branch has been taken when I was 8 years old, but the B/W negas and prints were disappeared
cuz moving house or something like that.
The camera was still in my hand NikomatEL Nikkor50 F2:) I used the combo recently inspired your mail… http://pulpo.org/weblog/?showimage=289

See you

Geoffrey Pakiam

midnight tales - 001
Geoffrey Pakiam of Midnight Tales is one of the many street photobloggers listed on photoblogs.org. Based in UK, his courage to take close candid shots of people has amazed us. His first photo was titled “#001 – Swedish summertime” and dated back to March 16, 2005. A fun and colorful shot :)

Sure Budi, I can do that…

the link to my first photoblog photo is at http://www.midnighttales.net/mt/archives/2005/03/post.html

(1) When and where you took your first photo? This was taken in Bralanda, Sweden, sometime in July 2004.

(2) What camera did you use to take the photo? A Pentax ME Super, 50mm lens, loaded with Fuji Reala 100 Film.

(3) What is the story behind the photo? These are my cousins. The guy with the beard is an old friend of mine. It’s a simple family photo, but I was also trying out new film combinations. I hadn’t really discovered the wide-angle lens at that time, it helped keep things a bit more simple and innocent.

Thanks Budi, it’s an honour!

Cheers
Geoff

Thanks Geoff. The honour is ours :)

Dmitri Goutnik

[ radio uruguay ] - obsoleted
Dmitri Goutnik is the man behind [ radio uruguay ], a photoblog of street photography. Currently ranked as #119 in photoblogs.org, we think he is undervalued as he is actually quite famous among fellow street photobloggers. The first photo that we able to find on his photoblog was dated back to February 19th, 2004 with the above photo titled “obsoleted“. Here is a reply from Dmitri himself after we asked his permission to publish this.

Hi guys,

Interesting idea… :)

That is not exactly the first photo I ever posted on the www (first probably was on photocritique.net sometime around 1999, they are long gone…), but I think it will do just fine… :)

As to the questions:
(1) When and where you took your first photo?: Berkeley, CA… in the year 2002, I think.
(2) What camera did you use to take the photo?: Leica M6
(3) What is the story behind the photo?: Heh.. no real story here, but this was one of my first rolls with a Leica and I was shooting everything :)

Thanks,
Dmitri

Thanks to you too Dmitri for quickly responding to our email. And cheers, you are the first from the photoblogs category ;)

Do you remember?

.. when you first get your hand on a camera? And clicked its shutter button? What’s the first photo you ever produced? Did you feel so good?

Well, of course, we are not going to look for the first photo ever produced. We are only intended to search for the first photo ever published. Be it on a photo gallery or on a photoblog or on Flickr or on other medium we are not aware of. And that photos are not ours, but yours :) If it is indeed your photo and it was your first ever published, then why don’t you let us know (add stories into it if you’d like to) and who knows it can make an appearance here.

One thing. If you are somehow familiar with the name, perhaps that’s because we have also started a similar blog a while ago. That blog’s name is First Post! Yes, we are the same people. In order to support the content of this blog, we also have made a group on Flickr called also First Photo! If you use Flickr, you can join it so that we can add it here.

If you remember your first photo, you can also remember us :) and let’s enjoy it together here.
